The Safe-Tech 0 – 8 Ton Mobile Crane Operator Training Program is a two-part program consisting of a comprehensive in-class theory session followed by practical operating testing. The program covers a broad spectrum of mobile crane operation and basic rigging focusing on those particular to your operation.  Participants will learn how to safely and effectively operate your specific mobile crane(s), attachments and related components.  This program is suitable for new and existing operators. This program does not cover vehicle operation or traffic control for operators who work on public roadways.

COMPLIANCE

Safe-Tech programs meet or exceed all relevant CSA Standards, applicable Federal/Provincial regulations and Ministry of Labour Guidelines.

PROGRAM INCLUDES

  • In-class training
  • Practical operator testing on up to 2 pieces of equipment or attachments (providing both tests take place at the same time & location during the initial scheduled testing date)
  • Record of training report
  • Written examinations
  • Signed safety rules from each participant
  • Individual wallet certificates (for participants with 80% passing score on both written and practical tests)
  • Wall certificate for company

  •   Basic equipment and design principles
  •   Pre-shift equipment inspections
  •   Types of hardware
  •   Safe hoisting/operating techniques
  •   Hand signals for slingers and operators
  •   Occurrence/damages causes
  •  Turning and flipping loads
  •   Capacity ratings/load weight calculations
  •   Internal responsibility
  •   Equipment applications/basic rigging
  •  Hitches and angles
  •  Pedestrian/operator safety
  •  Outrigger blocking & cribbing
  •  Underfoot conditions
  •  Power line safety awareness


LANGUAGE COMPREHENSION

Safe-Tech programs are conducted in English and best suited for participants with good English comprehension. Please advise our office at the time of booking and prior to the start of the course of any comprehension concerns or if you will be providing a translator when warranted. The instructors will do their best to accommodate, however Safe-Tech cannot be held responsible for any situation where comprehension was a factor due to a language barrier or impediment.

DURATION & LOCATION

  • 1 Day in-class theory held on-site at your location
  • Practical operator testing is held on-site at your location.  The instructor works with 1 - 2 operators at a time for approximately 30 - 60 minutes. (Duration is dependent on type(s) of cranes and attachments and complexity of operation.)

PRACTICAL TESTING (FOR EXISTING OPERATORS)

Practical operator testing is held on-site at your facility and is scheduled following the in-class segment.  The instructor will work with 1 - 2 operators at a time for approximately 30 - 60 minutes and each will be put through a series of operating tasks and maneuvers to assess competency and safety awareness on the equipment. Pre-shift inspection and reporting procedures are also covered. Additional time will be required for testing on more than 2 pieces of equipment or attachments.   

PRACTICAL TRAINING (FOR NEW OPERATORS)

Participants with little or no practical operating experience will require practical operator training prior to practical testing.  The duration of practical training varies based on equipment type and aptitude of the operator.  Practical training is an additional charge to this program and should be pre-scheduled.

Requirement for Proof of Vaccination: As a result of the Ontario Health Orders , proof of double vaccination will be required to attend training.  Proof can be the government issued vaccine card or your specific QR code send by Ontario Health.
